WOYWW

Here we are again at Wednesday and I haven't blogged for a week. I really don't know why as I spend half my life at my laptop!
Well here's my desk, still no crafting but there is a rumour that I'm getting my sewing machine out. Just have to blog this and eat my cake!

So on my table is a pile of books I've been recommended. Fiona was debating the other week whether she should watch the film 'The Talented Mr Ripley', as it was one of her favourite books. I said I hadn't seen the film or read the book and she said I should read it! I took her up on the suggestion and Mr Ripley kept me company on a very irritating train journey to Wigan. I was gripped from the first page and it reminded me of the film 'Catch Me If You Can'.
While I was staying with Kirsty we watched 'The Help' and she said that the book is even better, she also suggested that I read 'The Secret Life of Bees'. The other books are; Marina Lewycka's latest, 'The Time Traveller's Wife', also recommended by someone! And a random choice of 'Monsieur Pamplemousse' by Michael Bond. I thought I would give it a go as I didn't realise he wrote adult crime fiction and also because the blurb mentioned nuns and the mile high club!
I won't be here next week as I'll be camping! Anyone who knows me will know that I'm not the camping type but I'm always game for a laugh. It should be hilarious as there are about 20 of us including 15 children oh and also the fact that the only camping equipment I have is one sleeping bag!
Wish me luck

  2. We've read most of those. The Help is indeed even better in book form than film. The Time Traveller's Wife is a great concept for a novel and such an intriguing read, probably one of our most memorable reads actually. Happy reading.

  3. Enjoy your camping trip, hope the weather is kind to you. Yes, probably a good idea to take a tent! You are braver than me, the closest I've ever got to camping is a caravan or a boat. I like my home comforts too much! Have a great time though, I'm sure it will be great fun. xx

  5. Great book recommendations! I need to read The Help as well, and now Mr Ripley! I've read the others, and they are all great. Enjoy your camping, I gave it up a long time ago! My idea of camping is a B&B instead of a hotel!

  7. Hi Jaki thanks for popping by. Have fun on your trip. I have just finished reading 50 Shades of Grey because of all the hype - hmmmm. I think it was a modern day version of Mills and Boons (definitely more graphic and kinky) but a Mills and Boon non the less! Belated WOYWW Hugs to you from Helen 18

  8. I missed this post last week, because I was camping, so I'll comment on it this week instead! Glad you enjoyed Ripley, I'm thinking a revisit may be on the cards. There are four more in the series, although I've only read the next two. Hope you're surviving in your sleeping bag xx
